Google started testing short videos a few months ago and now it looks like testing has been extended to the search.

Previously, it was revealed that the Google Discover Panel would display or highlight content from sites like Instagram and TikTok in a scrollable carousel on Android devices.

Now, with new short videos extending to Google Search, users can see a custom panel when searching for specific things on the desktop, according to a report in 9To5Google.

The library of short videos differs from Google Stories which was released in October 2020 to the Google Search app for iOS and Android.

The short video circle focuses on aggregating social videos from other platforms including Tagni, Trell, as well as YouTube.

The report added that the collection of short videos appears when users scroll through the Google Knowledge Base area and Instagram and TikTok videos are available there.

A Google spokesperson confirmed to Globebusinesscenter that the feature is currently in testing on mobile devices. At an early stage, however, the spokesperson clarified that this was a limited advantage.

The report also added that although the video library cannot be found in every search query yet, it may over time become an interesting tool for indexing and viewing the best video content on social media.
