How to jailbreak your iPhone or iPod Touch
With nearly two million apps in the App Store, you might think that an iPhone user has enough options to get the most out of their device. But Apple’s App Store, for one reason or another, still doesn’t support a number of great third-party apps.
The only way to install these third-party apps on your device is to jailbreak your iPhone. Jailbreaking the device provides the option to install an operating system of your choice, or simply open your phone to third-party apps.
You can also use a jailbroken device to install apps from APK files, instead of having to download apps from the app store. Jailbreaking your iPhone or iPod Touch opens new possibilities in terms of customization and gives you more freedom. Jailbreaking a device is a complex process, but it will help you get the most out of your iPhone or iPod Touch, provided you are willing to take the risks.
To start the jailbreak process, you must first update your device to the latest iOS version. In this case, it would be iOS 14. You can use iTunes to manage your update or use the more appropriate OTA (over the air) update that your device offers (Settings> General> Update. Software Update).
Once you connect your device to your iTunes, it will prompt you to download and run an iOS update for your device. If you haven’t updated to the latest version of iTunes yet, you should also. If you are using a newer Mac and no longer have iTunes, you can update your iPhone through Finder.
If your device is not jailbroken, you will upgrade to iOS 14 without any problems. If your device is jailbroken, then the iOS system will fail to complete the update and will go into recovery mode. Do not panic! Just allow iTunes or Finder to perform a recovery with the latest iOS version. Once done, the device will be reset to factory settings.
Either way, don’t sync your device yet. Instead, quickly set up your device with Wi-Fi, your Apple ID, and whatever it prompts you to do. You can also ignore it for now and come back to it later. Make sure to access the home screen before proceeding.
For this next step, you don’t need a computer at all — just the iOS device you want to be jailbroken. Just to be sure, restart your device.

- Download Hexxa Plus on your device. Make sure to access that link from your iOS device, as it won’t work on a PC or MacBook.
- Tap Allow> Download to download it to your iOS 14 device profile. Then head to Settings> Profile Downloaded and tap the downloaded link. You may need to confirm your device’s passcode before continuing.
- Once the Hexxa Plus app is installed, you’re free to install a repo too. We recommend Cydia, and to download it, open your Hexxa Plus app and tap Get Repos.
- Scroll to the App Managers Repo List and tap it, then copy the “http://ios.cyrepo.tk/" address.
- Re-open your Hexxa Plus app and tap Extract Repo. Then paste the copied address and tap Ok to extract the Cydia repo.
- Tap the Download button, then hit Allow> Go to settings> Profile Downloaded> Install. Once you’ve entered your passcode to authorize it, you’ll just need to tap Install> Done.
Now that it’s installed, you can use it to download other jailbreak apps or install another marketplace.

Once the jailbreak process is finished, you must take the time to get all your valuable data back to your iOS device. If you haven’t jailbroken your device before, you may not need to, as your device will transfer all your data in the jailbreak process. If you have previously jailbroken your device, this will be necessary as you will need to perform a recovery to update your device.
Simply connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch to your computer, and iTunes or Finder will take care of the rest. When the restore is complete, apps, music, photos, and valuable data should return to their place.
